Yard Sale Finds can become Treasures
It's the thrill of the hunt: to take discarded items from yard sales or flea markets and recreate them as one-of-a-kind accent pieces. Often all it takes is a bit of paint and a discerning eye to transform trash into treasure.

Yeh, it's Snowing!
We keep getting more snow, so let's take advantage of the good weather and go Sledding!
Well you can't go to Chesnut Ridge Park,
The pinheads that run county governmnet have closed all county Parks, and technically you may be fined. The county parks will be closed probably until the end of this year, so where can you go for Free sleding?
One Suggestion:
In the Town of Locport on Route 31, just past the hospital, there is a city park, that has a great hill, its a little crazy and wild, but loads of fun.I'm sure there are plenty more places, if you have any suggestions, please comment.
If you need a Flexible Flyer, check out the sleds and tabogans at HectorsHardware.com

Once you have the Trout....either from the stream or from the fish Store....
Stuffed Trout with Lemon and Pink Peppercorns
Lemon bits add refreshing acidity to complement the rich trout flesh, while tiny pink peppercorns add an intriguing burst of flavor.
1 lemon
3 slices bacon, cooked, drained, and crumbled
3 tablespoons chopped parsley
1/2 teaspoon pink peppercorns
1/4 teaspoon salt
Pinch freshly ground pepper
4 whole trout, cleaned and boned from belly side
Olive oil spray
1/2 teaspoon salt
Pinch freshly ground pepper
Peel lemon; discard rind. Dice pulp into small pieces. In a small bowl, combine lemon pieces, bacon, parsley, peppercorns, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Spoon one fourth of the bacon mixture into each boned trout. Close belly cavity over stuffing; tie each trout closed with 3 to 4 lengths of kitchen string. Spray trout on both sides with oil; season with salt and pepper.
Place trout on center of cooking grate and grill 12 to 14 minutes, turning once halfway through grilling time, until fish flesh is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
Makes 4 servings.

Black Bear in Western New York
Black Bear have been returning to Allegany State Park, in western New York. Bears can be spotted from Mother's Day to Thanksgiving. The Bears frequent the cabin areas and love to climb in the dumpsters to get at the garbage. It is not uncommon to see dupsters tipped over and garbage bags all over from the bears antics at night. You know Yogi has to have his "Picinic Basket". In the summer of 2004 we spotted 6 different bears and one mother with 2 cubs. I was not able to get a picture of the cubs, the mother is very protective and kept them well hidden.
Of course Allegany has alot more to offer, there are many hiking trails, great fishing streams and lakes,( if you forget your pole , they will rent you one , and they sell bait),swiming with diving platforms and lifeguards ,canoeing and peddle boats, numerous camping sites and cabins to rent. It's a great place to get away from it all!
Set up your tent camper, or trailer, or Tent and get back to Mother Nature.ahhhhh
Play some Catch...
Get some firewood for the big bonfire tonight....
Play in a creek....
Whatever you decide to do, its a wonderful place to do it..Go to Allegany and Have Fun!!
Is Global Warming New?
Global Warming theory states that due to rising CO2 levels in our atmosphere, the earth’s temperature is also rising. Over a documented period of time the earths overall temperature has risen 1 degrees since 1830. Recently satellite imaging documented over 16 years shows a 5.5 % reduction in global ice cover over the arctic. We are also losing glaciers due to the deforistation of the rain forest. Can we blame glacier reduction on rising CO2 levels alone?
Answer is obviously NO. Scientists can't even agree on this.
Scientist that study our earth predict:
1. Global Warming will cause an increase in droughts, hurricanes and flooding.Yet we have had more hurricans in previous years prior to industrialization.Hurricanes droughts and floods are also a much needed weather phenominon. They move the cold air and warm air around our earth.
2. Some Birds and Animals will become extinct in the near future.Animals, Birds, and Insects have been becoming extinct for generations, remember the dinosours?
3. An Overall increase in temperature worldwide. A 1 degree increase in 100 years....have there been other 100 year periods where temperatures have dropped or increased?
Are Scientists using a scare tactic?
Are there other reasons for this new data?
If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

Can You safetly fry a turkey? Anser YES...See below
Pete's Cooking Tips:
How to safely fry a 12 pound Turkey
First of all read instruction sheet and set up cooker and pretest unit, to become familiar with the burner and adjusting the flame. Cooking must be done outside, on grass or gravel, not on wood decks or concrete, keep away from the side of building. Area should be level and keep children and pets away from the area; oil is dangerous when heated to these temps.
Now you need to calculate how much oil you need for your turkey, you can put the turkey in the pot and add water until the turkey is covered, remove the bird and note the water level in your pot, this pot is marked with graduations, so it makes it easier. When it comes time to fill with oil pour in exactly this amount and no extra.
We just did a 12 pound bird and we filled the pot to the 1/2 mark with oil.
After you defrost your turkey, and removing the neck and giblets and any plastic pop ups its time to season. Season by injecting marinade under the skin and in to the meat of the turkey breast, legs, back ...etc. You will lift the skin to be sure to get the injector tip in to the meat, make sure the turkey is dry, and pat with paper towels if necessary. Once it is fully injected and dry you can rub with any season rub you desire. Let stand overnight or at least 2-3 hours.
Now the time has come to fry the Bird, turn the burner on and get the oil to 350 degrees. Mount the bird on the Turkey stand that comes with the unit, with feet up, so the hook end is up for putting the coat hanger lifter in to the hook. Tie the legs with white butchers twine, usually comes with the frozen turkey. Cut away fatty skin so oil can easily bubble up thru neck and butt.
Turn the burner off at this point.
Slowly lower the turkey in to 350 degree oil, but do not completely submerge, lift out and each time dip turkey in deeper until finally submerged. If the turkey is dropped in all at once the oil will boil over out of the pot so remember put in very slowly. Once submerged the oil should be at a rolling boil. The temperature will drop, so now you can relight the burner and get the temp back up to 350 degrees and adjust flame so it stay at the temp, you will cook approximately 3.5 minutes per pound, you can check with a food thermometer 170 degrees to 185 degrees , but it should be done using the formula of 3.5 minutes per pound. Once done lift the turkey out and let drain, place on tray lined with paper bags or towels to absorb the oil and grease. Let cool for 30 minutes, remember it's still cooking at this point; soon you will be carving the most delicious turkey ever. The flavor of the spices and the juiciness of the meat are incredible. Let the oil cool for several hours, pour back in original container, using funnel and cheesecloth strainer to filter out impurities, this oil can be stored in a cool place and reused 2-3 times.
